Jayhawks Head West to Compete in the Prestige at PGA West

LAWRENCE, KAN. –

Kansas will continue its fall season on Oct. 16-17 when they compete in the Prestige at PGA West. The 54-hole tournament will be played at the Greg Norman Course at PGA West (par-72, 7,156-yards) in LaQuinta, Calif.

Kansas, currently ranked No. 28 in the country according to the most recent Golfweek rankings, will try to build off its win at the Kansas Invitational and second place finish at the Windon Memorial Classic. The Jayhawks will face a tough 15-team field that consists of seven teams ranked inside the top-50 nationally, including No. 4 USC and No. 8 Stanford.

The Jayhawks will once again lean on senior Gary Woodland who has started his senior season in strong fashion. His results have mirrored the Jayhawks in the two most recent tournaments with an individual win at the Kansas Invitational and a runner-up finish at the Windon Memorial Classic. The Topeka, Kan. native, has a scoring average of 72.00 and is currently ranked among the top-25 players in the country according to Golfweek.

The team lineup used during the Rich Harvest Farms Intercollegiate and Kansas Invitational will once again be employed at the Prestige at PGA West. Woodland with be joined by fellow seniors Tyler Docking and Barrett Martens. Sophomore Zach Pederson and freshman Bobby Knowles will round out the Jayhawks squad.

The first two rounds of play will be Monday Oct. 16 and the final-round will be conducted Tuesday Oct. 17. Click here for live scoring.
