The Kansas soccer team will play host to Big 12 foe Oklahoma on Sunday at 1 p.m. at the Jayhawk Soccer Complex. KU is coming off a 2-2 draw with OklahomaState on Friday evening, while OU lost to Missouri in Columbia, Friday. Gametracker is available for the match by clicking here.

This Week’s Promotion

The first 250 fans in attendance at Sunday’s soccer match with Oklahoma will receive a free Kansas soccer t-shirt. Fans who bring in their ticket stubs from Saturday’s Kansas-Baylor football game will also receive admission for $3.

About the Jayhawks

Kansas (3-8-3, 1-1-2 Big 12) tied 23rd-ranked OklahomaState Friday evening at the Jayhawk Soccer Complex. Senior midfielder Nicole Cauzillo scored a goal and added an assist, while sophomore Shannon McCabe had a goal and Monica Dolinsky tallied an assist. Senior goalkeeper Colleen Quinn made five saves to preserve the draw. KU is unbeaten in its last three matches and is 2-1-2 over its last five. The Jayhawks return 18 letterwinners and nine starters from last year’s squad, which finished 11-7-1.

Scouting the Sooners

Oklahoma (5-6-2, 1-4 Big 12) is coming off a 3-0 loss to fifth-ranked Missouri on Friday. In the match, OU was outshot 39-6 and put just two shots on net. Prior to the Missouri loss, the Sooners had been making progress, earning its first conference victory of the season, 3-1 over Baylor on Oct. 4, and nearly upsetting No. 9 Texas A&M on Oct. 7. Just the opposite of KU, the Sooners jumped out to a quick start, but have been struggling lately. OU has won just two of its last 10 matches.

Freshman forward Whitney Palmer leads the Sooners with six goals and 12 points, while senior Tenesha Duncan has four goals and an assist. Senior Shana All has the team lead with three assists on the season. Goalkeepers Tara MacDonald and Jennifer Nichols have split time in net this season. MacDonald has an 1.04 goals against average and an .860 save percentage, while Nichols has a 1.02 goals against average and a .818 save percentage.

Head coach Randy Evans is in his ninth season at OU and has a record of 77-74-15 at the school. Evans’ team returns eight starters and 14 letterwinners from last year’s squad, which finished 8-11-1.

The Series with Oklahoma

Kansas leads the all-time series with the Sooners, 8-3, including a 1-0 triumph in Norman last season. Junior Jessica Bush recorded the game-winning goal, her first of four in Big 12 play, while sophomore Shannon McCabe collected the assist on Sept. 24, 2006. OU has not beaten the Jayhawks since 2002, when the Sooners took a 2-1 win away from Lawrence.

Last Time Out

Senior Nicole Cauzillo scored a goal and tallied an assist, while sophomore Shannon McCabe recorded her second goal of the season as Kansas played a 2-2 tie with 23rd-ranked OklahomaState Friday evening at the Jayhawk Soccer Complex.

Cauzillo’s goal was her team-leading fourth of the season, while McCabe tallied her second goal of the season.

Looking Ahead

Kansas will make its final road trip of the regular season next week, when it travels to Colorado and nationally ranked Texas. The Jayhawks will meet the Buffaloes on Friday, Oct. 19 at 4 p.m. in Boulder, Colo., before squaring off with the top-ranked Longhorns on Sunday, Oct. 21 at 1 p.m. in Austin, Texas.
