LAWRENCE, Kan. –

Six Jayhawks will take part in the ITA Central Regionals Oct. 15-19 in Salt Lake City, Utah.

For singles play, senior Edina Horvath, junior Kuni Dorn and freshman Kate Morosova all qualified to enter the main draw of the event. Senior Yuliana Svistun, sophomore Maria Martinez and freshman Erin Wilbert will participate in the qualifying draw of singles play. KU also had two doubles pairings qualify for the tournament. The tandems of Horvath and Dorn and Morozova and Svistun will compete in the main draw of competition.

The Intercollegiate Tennis Association hosts the Wilson/ITA Regional Championships every year. More than 5,000 men’s and women’s collegiate tennis players participate in a total of 80 regional events (17 for Division I and 63 for small colleges), which are hosted across the country each fall from late September through mid-November. The singles champion (and finalist in Division I) and doubles champions from each regional event automatically qualify for either the ITA National Small College Championships (in late October) or the ITA National Indoor Intercollegiate Championships (in November).

This event is the third of four fall tournaments for the Jayhawks. Kansas will travel to Tallahassee, Fla. for the Florida State Tournament Oct. 31 through Nov. 2 to conclude fall competition.
