Swimming and Diving Places Fourth at Big 12 Relays

Lawrence, Kan. — The University of Kansas swimming and diving team placed third at the 2005 Big 12 Relays Friday at the Mizzou Aquatics Center in Columbia, Mo. Kansas earned 50 points at the relays. The Jayhawks finished 58 points behind Texas. Texas won the team championship in the meet that consisted of 16 different relays and two diving flights.

Kansas started off strong taking second place in the 100 medley relay, the first relay of the day. The team of senior Lindsey Urbatchka, junior Jenny Short and freshmen Ashley Leidigh and Danielle Herrmann finished the race in 48.06.

The Jayhawks placed in the top five in fifteen of the sixteen relays. Kansas earned six second-place finishes, five fourth-place finishes and five fifth-place finishes.

In diving action, junior Shelby Noonan placed sixth in both the one-meter and three-meter diving.

The Jayhawks will be back in action Oct. 15, in Kirksville, Mo., in a dual against Truman State. For complete results following the dual go to www.kuathletics.com.
