Cowboy running back Keith Totson was the victim of both fumbles caused by Jayhawks James McClinton and Paul Como. Freshmen Artist Wright and Anthony Webb both recovered their first career fumbles to set up the KU scoring drives.

Following the first fumble it took the Jayhawks just two plays to score capped by a 33-yard strike from freshman Kerry Meier to sophomore Marcus Herford. The touchdown marked the first of Herford’s career.

The Jayhawks added to their lead early in the second quarter following Totson’s second turnover. Kansas marched down the field in seven plays and completed the drive with a four-yard Meier touchdown pass to junior tight end Derek Fine.

Following KU’s second score, OSU marched down to the Kansas one-yard line before a goal line stand by the Jayhawks.

After a Kansas punt, Oklahoma State’s two-minute offense drove to the KU 35-yard line before sophomore Aqib Talib intercepted a Bobby Reid pass in the end zone to end the half. The interception was Talib’s second of the season.
