LAWRENCE, Kan. –

Junior Leah Daiber finished first with a time of 38.32, while Team Phog led the Rock Chalk Teams in Kansas softball’s triathlon race Tuesday on campus.

KU softball players completed an 8.4 mile triathlon course Tuesday afternoon that included a 6 mile bike, 2.2 mile run and a 0.2 mile swim. Sophomore Maggie Hull finished just behind Daiber with a time of 40.52 followed by freshman Kendra Cullum, whose 42.00-minute time was good enough for third.

Daiber also logged the individual best times for the bike (11:06) and the run (21.41). Senior Allie Clark led the team in the swim with a time of 4:56.

Prior to the season, the players are broken up into four Rock Chalk Teams and compete against one another throughout the year in a variety of competitions that test skills outside of their normal softball abilities. Team Phog (Alex Jones, Elsa Moyer, Colleen Hohman) took the team crown with an average time of 45.36 during the triathlon.
