Jayhawks Return Home for Border Showdown

LAWRENCE, Kan. – After two straight road matches, the Kansas volleyball team will return home Saturday as the Border Showdown continues when Missouri visits the Horejsi Family Athletics Center. Kansas (11-6, 2-6 Big 12 Conference) is coming off a win at Iowa State while the Tigers were handed a 3-0 loss at No. 9 Texas Wednesday.

With a KU soccer win last week, the Jayhawks lead the 2004 Border Showdown series 3.0-0. Match time is set for 7 p.m. Gametracker and post-match results will be available on kuathletics.com.

Missouri Preview
The Tigers (10-5, 5-3 Big 12) received 69 votes in this week’s USA Today/CSTV Coaches’ Poll. MU, which defeated previously ranked Wisconsin and Colorado and No. 15 Texas A&M, had a four-match win streak snapped Wednesday night with a loss at undefeated Texas.

Missouri is a physical, aggressive hitting team. The Tigers lead the league in kills (17.87 kpg) and assists (16.25 apg) and rank third in hitting percentage (.271). However, the Tigers are eighth in the league in blocking (2.53 bpg) and opponent hitting percentage (.197).

With a 5-3 record, MU is tied for third in the conference with Colorado, Kansas State and Texas A&M.

The Kansas/Missouri Series
The Tigers lead the all-time series against KU 36-33. The Jayhawks won the last meeting (Nov. 5, 2003 at home) but neither team has held more than a three-match win streak over the other in the last decade.
