LAWRENCE, Kan. – Senior infielder Jordan Dreiling, Junior catcher Tom Hougland and sophomore outfielder Michael Suiter recorded three-hit games to highlight KU’s two scrimmages over the weekend. The Jayhawks, which were divided into Crimson and Blue squads, split their games on Saturday and Sunday at Hoglund Ballpark.

Hougland, a junior catcher/designated hitter from Parker, Colo., collected three singles, scored a run and added an RBI to lead the Crimson team to a 4-3 victory on Saturday. Senior right-handed pitcher Tanner Poppe recorded three strikeouts and pitched three spotless innings to earn the victory on the mound. Sophomore Nate Arnold also added a pair of base hits Saturday.

Dreiling and Suiter each collected three hits for the Blue team in Sunday’s 12-9 victory. Dreiling went 3-for-5 with a double, triple and stolen base, while Suiter chipped in a 3-for-4 effort with two triples and a double. Sophomore right-handed pitcher Taylor Rappaport earned the win, pitching three scoreless innings for Blue.

“I was really disappointed with our team’s performance this weekend, you could tell that our guys had four days off for fall break,” Kansas head coach Ritch Price said. “We need to get back on track this week and bring the energy and intensity level to the field every day, that it takes to compete in the Big 12 Conference.”

Kansas baseball will return to the diamond on Tuesday for another fall practice. The team will host scout day on Wednesday of this week, before holding another round of scrimmages this upcoming weekend.
