LAWRENCE, Kan. – Through six weeks of the National Football League season, six Jayhawks remain on NFL rosters with several of them making an impact for their teams. In addition, two Jayhawks are playing well in the Canadian Football League. This week’s Jayhawks in the Pros is highlighted by cornerback Chris Harris, who had a monster game on Monday Night Football for the Denver Broncos. Harris was named one of “Gruden’s Grinders” by MNF analyst Jon Gruden after the game.
Dezmon Briscoe
Wide receiver Dezmon Briscoe is in his third season in the NFL and first with the Washington Redskins. Briscoe played in Washington’s 38-26 win over the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday at FedEx Field, but did not record any stats. Briscoe has played in four games this season, but is still looking for his first catch in a Washington uniform. He signed with the Redskins after being released by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in late July. In his two NFL seasons, Briscoe has played in 19 games and tallied 41 catches for 480 yards and seven touchdowns. He was originally drafted by the Cincinnati Bengals in the sixth round of the 2010 NFL Draft.
Anthony Collins
Offensive tackle Anthony Collins is in his fifth season in the NFL with the Cincinnati Bengals. Collins was in uniform, but did not play for the sixth-straight week in Cincinnati’s 34-24 loss to Cleveland Sunday. Collins has not played in any of the Bengals’ games this season, missing the first one with an injury and has dressed, but not seen action, in the last five. He has played in 39 games in his NFL career and made 18 starts at offensive tackle. Collins was originally a fourth-round selection by Cincinnati in the 2008 NFL Draft.
Chris Harris
Cornerback Chris Harris is in his second season with the Denver Broncos.Harris made his second start of the season in Monday night’s 35-24 win over the San Diego Chargers and had a career game. The second-year cornerback recorded two interceptions, including one he returned 46 yards for the game-sealing touchdown with 2:05 left in the fourth quarter. He also tallied four tackles on the night as Denver erased a 24-0 deficit at halftime. Harris has played in 21 games in his NFL career, making six starts. He has recorded 94 tackles, broken up seven passes and made three interceptions. Harris signed with the Broncos as an undrafted free agent following the 2011 NFL Draft.

Steven Johnson
Linebacker Steven Johnson is in his first season with the Denver Broncos after making the team as an undrafted free agent. Johnson was inactive for Denver’s 35-24 win over the San Diego Chargers Monday. He has played in two of Denver’s six games this season, but has not recorded any stats. Johnson was signed by the Broncos as an undrafted free agent following the 2012 NFL Draft in April.
Darrell Stuckey
Safety Darrell Stuckey is in his third season with San Diego, and first serving as the Chargers’ special teams captain. Stuckey recorded two tackles and forced a fumble on a kickoff, which led to San Diego’s first touchdown in the opening quarter Monday against the Denver Broncos. He has played in all six of the Chargers’ games this season and has six tackles, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery. In his career, Stuckey has played in 21 games and made 19 tackles. He was drafted by the Chargers in the fourth round of the 2010 NFL Draft.
Aqib Talib
Cornerback Aqib Talib is in his fifth season in the NFL and fourth as a starting corner for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Talib began serving a four-game suspension this week for violating the league’s PED rules. This season, Talib has started in four games for the Bucs and made 21 tackles with seven pass breakups and an interception. In his career, the former KU All-American has made 182 tackles, recorded 53 pass breakups and 18 interceptions. He was a first-round pick by Tampa Bay in the 2008 NFL Draft.

Jon Cornish
Tailback Jon Cornish is in his sixth CFL season, all with the Calgary Stampeders. Cornish gained 87 yards on 22 carries with a touchdown Saturday in Calgary’s 32-21 win over the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. He also added a nine-yard catch in the game. This season, “Kid Canada” leads the CFL with 1,275 yards on 216 carries with 10 touchdowns on the ground. It marks the first 1,000-yard season of Cornish’s career. He has also recorded 30 receptions for 224 yards and a touchdown. In his six-year career, Cornish has rushed for 3,145 yards and 22 touchdowns to go along with 80 catches for 541 yards and five receiving touchdowns. He signed with Calgary following the end of his KU career in 2007.
Marcus Henry
Wide receiver Marcus Henry is in his second year in the CFL with the Edmonton Eskimos. Henry recorded two catches for 45 yards in Edmonton’s 37-20 win over Saskatchewan Saturday. In five games this season, Henry has recorded 21 catches for 270 yards and one score. In his CFL career, Henry has 54 receptions for 654 yards and two touchdowns. He signed with Edmonton during the 2011 NFL season after being released by the New York Jets in training camp.
