LAWRENCE, Kan.– The University of Kansas tennis team is set to travel to Salt Lake City, Utah, for the 2005 ITA Central Region Women’s Championships, Oct. 19-23. The Jayhawks will send six individuals and three double teams to the tournament.

Senior Christine Skoda and sophomore Elizaveta Avdeeva have already qualified for the tournament’s main singles draw, while sophomore Lauren Hommell, junior Brittany Brown and freshmen Ksenia Bukina and Edina Horvath must first win two rounds of qualifying play on Oct. 19 to advance to the main draw of singles competition.

In doubles play, Kansas’ three tandems of Avdeeva and Bukina, Hommell and Horvath, and Brown and Skoda are the most that any single school can qualify for the Championships.

“We are pleased to be able to send so much of our team to Salt Lake City for this extremely competitive tournament,” head coach Amy Hall-Holt said. “This tournament will be full of great players and will be a strong test for our girls.”
