LAWRENCE, Kan. – In the most competitive field of the season for the Kansas cross country teams, the Jayhawk men and women finished 36th and 23rd, respectively, at the ISU Pre-Nationals in Terre Haute, Ind. The KU women ran in the Blue race, while the men competed in the White race.

Lauren Bonds led the women’s team for the fourth-consecutive race, placing 64th individually with a 6K-time of 21:24.9. The junior from Hutchinson, Kan., was followed by sophomore Amanda Miller, who finished 94th with a time of 21:47.7. Bonds and Miller have been the top KU women’s finishers in all four races thus far this season.

Senior Megan James was the third Jayhawk finisher, placing 146th after running 22:19.6. Freshman Kara Windisch finished 156th at 22:22.5, and junior Alison Knoll rounded out the KU scoring by placing 164th with a time of 22:26.2.

Leading the Jayhawk men was freshman Donny Wasinger, who finished in 160th place after running a 25:21.1 8K. Wasinger was followed by junior Bret Imgrund at 25:36.2 (183rd). Junior Isaiah Shirlen finished 187th at 25:37.4, sophomore Nick Caprario placed 207th with a time of 25:53.0, and freshman Kaleb Humphreys finished in 223rd place at 26:09.1.

The ISU Pre-Nationals was Kansas’ last meet until the Big 12 Championships, which take place on Nov. 1 in Ames, Iowa.
