Bill Self Kansas Basketball Coaches Clinic Set for October 23

LAWRENCE, Kan. – The Bill Self Kansas Basketball Coaches Clinic got a head start with clinicians watching the No. 7 Jayhawks practice Friday afternoon in Allen Fieldhouse. The clinic will continue Saturday, October 23, 2010, in Allen Fieldhouse.

Those attending the clinic – open to all coaches at all levels – will be able to watched Kansas’ men’s basketball practice Friday, Oct. 22, with former Saint John’s head coach Norm Roberts serving as guest speaker addressing the clinicians following practice. Presentations by Self and his staff along with an inside look at a Kansas Basketball practice will highlight the event.

Self, the 2009 national coach of the year by eight different organizations and has guided KU to the last six Big 12 regular-season titles, and the Jayhawk assistant coaches will host the event. Self has averaged 28.9 wins per season at Kansas and has guided the Jayhawks to three NCAA Tournament Elite Eights, including the 2008 Final Four and NCAA National Championship. In 2009-10, Kansas recorded its third 30-win season in the last four years going 33-3 and ranking No. 1 nationally for 15 weeks.

The clinic officially begins at 9 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 23, with registration beginning at 8:30 a.m. Pre-registration is recommended. Cost of the clinic is $60 for those that pre-register and $70 for those that register at the gate. Those interested in attending the Texas A&M at Kansas football game on Oct. 23 at 6 p.m. can purchase tickets through the KU ticket office at www.kuathletics.com or at the ticket booth located on the west side of Memorial Stadium.
