Kansas Athletics Installs Revolutionary Strength Training System

Oct. 18, 2012

LAWRENCE, Kan. – While preseason basketball practice opened last week at the University of Kansas, Jayhawk student-athletes in all sports began their preparations for the 2012-13 seasons long ago.

During the summer months Kansas student-athletes were introduced to the new EliteForm system, which was installed into Anderson Strength Center. The EliteForm is a revolutionary system that will set new standards for training in athletics and is currently being used by just 10 strength training centers worldwide.

At its core, the EliteForm gives coaches the opportunity to measure not only how much or how many repetitions an athlete does during a workout, but can also evaluate how hard an athlete works during a given exercise and charts this information digitally.

Using a network of camera, sensors and software, the EliteForm system allows coaches the ability to chart the progress and performance during team workouts, tailor a workout specifically for an athlete during the course of the season and use the camera system to monitor and correct form.

Student-athletes sign into the system and can see their progress in real time as well as see their form and consistency while they are working out.

“Eliteform has not only taken us to the forefront of technology in our sports performance center, it has also allowed us to measure variables that we couldn’t in the past: power, velocity, and the accumulative effects of training. Speed of movement is the most significant change that I have seen in such a short amount of time” said Andrea Hudy, Assistant Athletics Director for Sport Performance.

Hudy and the Kansas Sports Performance Staff are excited about the new technology afforded to them through the EliteForm system. They are convinced that the training system will give KU athletes an edge in off-season as well as in-season training, which in turn, should lead to better results on the fields of competition.
