LAWRENCE, Kan. –

The sounds of baseball have come to life at Hoglund Ballpark at the the University of Kansas, courtesy of a new Sportsound® 1500HD digital sound system from Daktronics, Inc., of Brookings, S.D.

“The Sportsound® 1500HD sound system features significantly enhanced sound quality with state of the art speakers providing the full range of audio, from seat-shaking bass to crisp highs to natural sounding vocal reproduction,” said John Olsen, Daktronics audio sales. “New high frequency lenses and complex waveguides are also part of the design of this unique sound system, along with high precision components, low distortion, low latency, higher damping factor and broad, consistent coverage of entire sports venues.”

Olsen said that, combined with the Daktronics scoreboard and video display system installed in Hoglund in 2005-06, the new sound system delivers pounding bass energy, smooth mid and high range frequencies, and high impact entertainment through the integration of audio, video and scoring technologies. He said Daktronics is the only company that offers pre-manufactured systems like this to provide the highest quality, reliability and value.

“The Sportsound 1500HD really impressed our baseball team,” said J.D. Loudabarger, Assistant Athletics Director, Event Services, at Kansas. “Going from some small speakers to a single point sound system from Daktronics stepped up the audio quality at Hoglund. It gives our players and fans the same audio quality we have in all our major sports facilities. One great feature was the integration into our scoreboard, which did not change our existing look and feel.”
