Oct. 20, 2011

LAWRENCE, Kan. – Kansas Football will join the fight against breast cancer when it hosts Kansas State on Saturday, at Memorial Stadium. When the Jayhawks take Kivisto Field at 11 a.m. they will be wearing pink gloves and wrist bands. The Kansas coaching staff will also be wearing specially made hats and polos to help spread the message of breast cancer awareness.

adidas, the official apparel provider of Kansas Athletics, will be selling special pink merchandise at KU Store locations throughout the stadium. adidas will donate a portion of the proceeds from breast cancer awareness merchandise sales to Jayhawks for a Cure.

Additionally, Centerplate, Kansas Athletics’ food and beverage concessions-services partner, will be offering special pink souvenir items at Memorial Stadium food retail locations. Custom pink ribbon straws will be available for purchase for $1 and all proceeds will benefit Jayhawks for a Cure. Centerplate will also donate $1 for every pink “mood cup” soda sold during the game.

Jayhawks for a Cure is an initiative of Kansas Athletics to support breast cancer awareness and raise funding for important treatment and prevention. Funds raised by Jayhawks for a Cure benefit the Lawrence Memorial Hospital Oncology Center and the KU Cancer Center at KU Med.
