Oct. 21, 2008
LAWRENCE, Kan. –
Junior goalkeeper Julie Hanley has been named to the TopDrawerSoccer.com’s National Women’s Team of the Week for her efforts over the past weekend. Hanley becomes the second Jayhawk honored by the national soccer website this season, joining teammate Emily Cressy, who was named to the team on Sept. 8.
Hanley, a junior from Indianapolis, Ind., blanked 6th-ranked Texas A&M with three saves on Friday – her fourth shutout of the season. She also played the first 67 minutes of KU’s 7-0 win over non-conference foe Francis Marion. Hanley needed just one save against the Patriots to combine with teammate Stephanie Baugh for the shutout. The junior goalkeeper has a season goals against average of 1.30 to go along with a .708 save percentage.
Hanley and the Jayhawks (10-5-1, 3-3-1 in the Big 12) will play host to No. 10 Texas on Friday at 3 p.m.
