Senior Ekaterina Morozova and sophomore Dylan Windom won their first match in the Main Doubles Draw Friday at the 2011 USTA/ITA Central Region Tennis Championships in Tulsa, Okla. Morozova also advanced to the third round in the Main Singles draw of the tournament.

The No. 2 seeded tandem of Morozova and Windom defeated the Missouri duo of Rachel Stuhlman and Alex Clark, 8-4, after receiving a bye in the first round. They will face Alexa Palen and Magdelena Wiecha from Minnesota on Saturday.

“I’m very proud of the performances today from Kate and Dylan in both singles and doubles,” Kansas head coach Amy Hall-Holt said. “We really need to go into the match with Minnesota with a lot of focus. They are a very talented team.”

Morozova, a senior from Togliatte, Russia, won two singles matches Friday to make it to the third round of the Main Singles Draw. She took down Mary Jeremiah from Oklahoma State in the first match, 6-4, 6-1, and Arkansas State’s Tamera Slijepcevic, 6-4, 6-3, in the second rounds.

Windom, a sophomore from Tifton, Ga., fell in the first round of the Main Singles Draw to Emile Carbone of Arkansas, 7-5, 6-3.

The duo will return to action Saturday morning for the second day of main draws for the ITA Regionals. Matches are set to begin at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center at 8 a.m.
