Avdeeva, Skoda Eliminated From Consolation Play at ITA Central Regionals

<?xml:namespace prefix=”st1″ ns=”urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags”?>SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Kansas senior Christine Skoda and sophomore Elizaveta Avdeeva were eliminated from the consolation singles bracket on Saturday morning, ending the Jayhawk’s weekend at the ITA Central Regional Championships in Salt Lake City.

After both advanced to the consolation quarterfinals on Friday, Skoda was defeated by Jessica Simosa of Kansas State, 6-4; 6-3, while Avdeeva fell to Arkansas State’s Marina Engelbrecht, 6-2; 6-3.

Despite all of Kansa’s tournament qualifiers being eliminated, head coach Amy Hall-Holt was pleased with her teams’ efforts at the Championships. “Overall, I thought this tournament went pretty well. We had some pretty impressive highlights this week.”

“This was a very competitive tournament, and hopefully all of our girls will gain from playing these quality opponents.”
