In day two of its intrasquad world series, Team Blue was again victorious over Team Crimson winning by a score of 6-2.

Blue out-hit Crimson 12-7 in the win led by freshman Colleen Hohman’s three hits. Two of Hohman’s hits were round-trippers as she drove in a team-high four runs. Sophomore Mariah Montgomery and freshman Kendra Cullum also collected multiple hits in the contest adding two knocks each for Blue.

Sophomore pitcher Alex Jones recorded the win from the circle allowing three hits and one unearned run in the first four innings, while striking out five batters. Junior transfer Ashley Spencer notched the save tossing three innings with three K’s and giving up one run on four hits.

Crimson struck first during the game scoring a run on a Marissa Ingle RBI single to plate freshman Ashley Newman in the bottom of the first inning. However, Blue responded in its next turn at the plate as freshman Marisa Malazzo brought home Cullum with a single.

Hohman’s first home run in the top of the third inning scored two more runs for Blue to give it a 3-1 lead. Montgomery batted in junior Julie Jenkins in the top of the fourth before Hohman added two more insurance runs with a homer in the seventh inning.

Crimson was able to tack on one more run in the bottom of the fifth off a Brittany Hile sacrifice fly but was not enough to overcome Blue.
