Senior Ekaterina Morozova advanced to the quarterfinals in the Main Singles Draw of the 2011 USTA/ITA Central Region Tennis Championships Saturday in Tulsa, Okla. In doubles, Morozova and doubles partner Dylan Windom fell in the quarterfinals of the Main Doubles Draw.

Morozova, a senior from Togliatte, Russia, defeated Arkansas’ Claudine Paulson, 6-2, 6-3, to reach the quarterfinals. She will face No. 6 seed Madeleine Geibert of Nebraska on Sunday.

“Kate played a very smart game today with a lot of patience and fight,” Kansas head coach Amy Hall-Holt said. “She needs to go into tomorrow’s match with the same intensity.”

The tandem of Morozova and Windom, ranked 33rd in the Campbell/ITA Preseason Rankings, fell to Kanyapat Narattana and Malike Rose of Oklahoma State, 9-8(7-2).

“In doubles, they played with a lot of heart, but we have to give OSU a lot of credit,” Hall-Holt said. “They played hard.”

Morozova will return to the courts at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center Sunday for the third day of the ITA Regionals. Doubles matches are set to being at 10:30 a.m.
