LAWRENCE, Kan. –

The University of Kansas baseball team announced that it has finalized its 2007 schedule. Trips to Hawaii and California as well as a tentative non-conference game against Missouri at Kaufman Stadium highlight the team’s spring ledger.

The defending Big 12 Tournament champions will face 10 teams that qualified for the NCAA Tournament last season, including Oral Roberts, Missouri and Stanford, who all advanced to the Super Regionals last season.

For the fifth-straight season, KU will open its schedule in Hawaii with a five-game set against the University of Hawaii-Hilo, Feb. 1-4. The team will then return to the friendly confines of Hoglund Ballpark for the earliest home game in 20 years when it plays host to South Dakota State, Feb. 9-11. The Jayhawks continue a six-game home stand with North Dakota State the following weekend.

On Feb. 23, the team begins a tough four-game road trip that includes a three-game series at Stanford and a single game at Oral Roberts on Feb. 27.

The team opens the month of March at home against Western Illinois and then travels to another 2006 NCAA Tournament participant in Arkansas, March 9-11. After single home games against Penn State (March 13) and Wichita State (March 14), the team will open up play in the Big 12 with a trip to Olsen Field to take on Texas A&M, March 16-18.

The Jayhawks will face archrivals Missouri (March 30-April 1) and Kansas State (April 3) on the road to close out the month and begin April.

The team will then play host to Texas (April 5-7), Oral Roberts (April 10) and Baylor (April 13-15), in a key two-week stretch of the season. After another match up with Wichita State on April 18, the Jayhawks travel to Lubbock for a three-game set with the Red Raiders of Texas Tech April 20-22.

KU will face rival Missouri on April 25 in a Wednesday night contest tentatively scheduled at Kaufman Stadium, home of the Kansas City Royals.

The Jayhakws’ last Big 12 road series of the season will be April 27-29 at Dale Mitchell Park in Oklahoma. Following the OU series, the team will not leave the state of Kansas until the Big 12 Tournament.

KU will travel to Kansas State on May 4, and then complete the three-game series at Hoglund Ballpark May 5-6. The team will host Missouri State on May 9 and Chicago State, May 11-13, before facing Nebraska (May 18-20) in the final series of the regular season.

The Jayhawks will look for a return trip to the Phillips 66 Big 12 Championship held at Bricktown Ballpark in Oklahoma City, Okla. The tournament begins on Wednesday, May 23 and concludes on Sunday, May 27.
