McCabe Earns Second Weekly Honor

LAWRENCE, Kan. –

Kansas forward Shannon McCabe has been named to the Soccer Buzz Elite Team of the Week. This marks the second weekly award for the Kansas junior as she was also named Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week on Tuesday.

McCabe, a junior from Tulsa, Okla., scored four goals and added an assist in matches against No. 6 Texas A&M and Francis Marion this past weekend. The junior scored the only goal of the match in KU’s 1-0 upset of the sixth-ranked Aggies in the 29^th minute Friday. On Sunday, she tied a school record with three goals and seven points in the 7-0 win over Francis Marion. McCabe recorded the sixth hat trick in program history, scoring three of the team’s first four goals and adding an assist in the second half.

She becomes the second Jayhawk to be honored on Soccer Buzz’s Team of the Week this season. On Aug. 28, freshman forward Emily Cressy was named to the Elite Team of the Week after a goal and an assist against then-No. 20 Purdue.

Kansas (10-5-1, 3-3-1 Big 12) will host No. 10 Texas at 3 p.m. Friday at the Jayhawk Soccer Complex.
