AUBURN, Ala. — Sophomore Meghna Bal shot a one-over-par 73 Saturday to help the Kansas women’s golf team improve three spots to ninth place heading into Sunday’s final round at The Derby.

Bal, who hails from New Delhi, India, is tied for 12th place in the individual standings. Junior Emily Powers shot a 78 and is tied for 18th. Rounding out the lineup for the Jayhawks were juniors Meghan Gockel (83-76–15, T59) and Jennifer Clark (82-85–167, T83) and sophomore Grace Thiry (79-7—158, T54).

No. 3 Arizona State overtook No. 8 Virginia in the team standings after posting a 284 on Saturday. The Sun Devil’s Anna Nordqvist is in first place in the individual standings thanks to a five-under-par round of 67.
