AUBURN, Ala. — Kansas women’s golf concluded its fall season Sunday with a 14th place finish at The Derby. The three-day tournament, held at he Auburn University Club at Yarbrough Farms, was the team’s last event until they begin the spring season in February.

Sophomore Meghna Bal shot a two-over-par 74 Sunday to finish in a tie for 12th place in the individual standings.

Junior Emily Powers finished three shots behind Bal (73-78-76—227) to place 21st. Rounding out the lineup for the Jayhawks were sophomore Grace Thiry (79-79-82—240, T72nd) and juniors Meghan Gockel (83-76-83—242, T79th ) and Jennifer Clark (82-85-82—249, 85th).

No. 3 ranked Arizona State (300-284-285—869) claimed the team title, edging out No. 8 Virginia (289-298-300—887) by eight strokes. The Sun Devil’s Anna Nordqvist finished atop the individual standings with a 207.

The Jayhawks are next in action Feb. 16-17 in Parrish, Fla., where they will begin the spring season at the Central District Invitational. Check back to kuathletics.com for the latest news about the KU women’s golf program.
