Katy Nugent Guides Kansas to Fourth Place Finish at Palmetto Intercollegiate

Palmetto Final Results 
KIAWAH ISLAND, S.C.—Junior Katy tied for fourth place individually to lead the Kansas women’s golf team to a fourth place team finish at the Edwin Watts/Palmetto Intercollegiate and close out the fall season Tuesday.
Nugent shot rounds of 73-71-72 to finish with a an even-par 216 total. Her fourth-place finish makes her the top finisher for the Jayhawks in two consecutive events.
As a team the Jayhawks were consistent through all three rounds shooting 296-296-295. KU’s final-day 295 matched the best round of any team in the final 18 holes.
Both senior Grace Thiry and freshman Meghan Potee improved on second scores of 80 to finish strong in the final round. Thiry carded an even par-72 on the in the final round to tie for 15th. Potee shot a final round of 74 to tie for 54th.
Senior Meghn Bal tied for 35th with rounds of 77-74-77. Thanuttra Boonraksasat tied for 40th with rounds of 76-71-83.
The Jayhawks will begin the spring season at Texas State University’s Claud Jacobs Challenge in Victoria, Texas, Feb. 13 and 14, 2011.
