The Jayhawks fell to the Red Raiders, 3-1, in the teams’ only regular season meeting on Oct. 21 in Lawrence. KU and TTU have met only once before in Big 12 Championship play, with the Jayhawks advancing on penalty kicks in the 2009 first round match.

The Jayhawks’ sixth-place finish in the league standings is the highest since the 2007 group finished third. Last season, Kansas played the No. 2 seed Texas A&M to a 3-3 tie in the tournament quarterfinals but failed to advance, losing on penalty kicks, 5-3.
