Jayhawks Ranked No. 3 in ESPN/USA Today Coaches Preseason Poll

LAWRENCE, Kan. – Kansas enters the 2006-07 men’s basketball season No. 3 nationally as the ESPN/USA Today Coaches’ preseason poll was released Friday.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = “urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office” />
This marks the sixth time in the last seven seasons that KU has entered the coaches’ preseason poll ranked seventh or higher. Two seasons ago, in 2004-05, the Jayhawks were ranked first in the preseason poll.
Highlighted by a Nov. 25 game against No. 1 Florida in the Las Vegas Invitational, Kansas will face four teams ranked in the ESPN/USA Today Coaches preseason poll. The Jayhawks will also play No. 13 Texas A&M, No. 15 Boston College and No. 19 Texas.
Since 1993, this is the 11th time Kansas enters the coaches’ preseason poll ranked ninth or higher.
