Freshmen Lead Jayhawks During Second Round at the Landfall Tradition

LAWRENCE, KAN. –

Freshmen Brad Hopfinger and Nate Barbee combined to shoot two-under during the second round at the Landfall Tradition to help the Kansas men’s golf team shoot a 295 and improve upon their first-round effort by 13 strokes. The Jayhawks stand in 10th place after two rounds at the Jack Nicklaus Course at the Country Club of Landfall in Wilmington, N.C.<?xml:namespace prefix=”o” ns=”urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office”?>

Hopfinger fired a second-round 70, marking his second under-par round of the year, and he sits in a tie for 22nd place entering the final round on Sunday. Barbee shot an even-par round of 70 and is currently tied for 30th place.

Junior Zach Pederson continues his steady play, carding a second-round 74 and is tied for 26th place. Junior Walt Koelbel shot a second-round 79 and is tied for 45th place. Sophomore Bobby Knowles carded an 81 and is in 56th place after two rounds.

Tulsa is on top of the leaderboard by 10 strokes after two rounds of play with a team score of 571. Tulsa is led by Nicholas Geiger, who stands at nine-under after two rounds, and is on top of the individual leaderboard.
