Swimming and Diving Heads to Missouri for Border Showdown

Oct. 28, 2010

Columbia, Mo. –

Kansas swimming and diving travels to take on the Missouri Tigers in their first Big 12 meet of the season Friday in Columbia, Mo. The Jayhawks (0-3) will be looking for their first dual victory of the season.

“We always look forward to our meet with Missouri,” Kansas head coach Clark Campbell said. “Last year we were too tight and nervous, so our goal this time around is to relax and enjoy the meet. Rivalry competition brings out your best if you stay within yourself and focus on fundamentals.”

Last meet, Kansas fell to perennial powers Arizona, Arizona State and UNLV at the Arizona Triple Duals in Tucson, Ariz. Sophomore Rebecca Swank placed third in both the 1000-yard freestyle (10:07.88) and the 500-yard freestyle (4:58.28), while seniors Iuliia Kuzhil and Joy Bunting also took third place in the 100-yard backstroke (57.35) and 200-yard IM (2:06.50), respectively.

The Jayhawks will return to Robinson Natatorium Nov. 13 when the team takes on Drury and North Dakota in dual competitions. The meet is set to begin at 1 p.m.
