KU Volleyball Travels to K-State Saturday

Manhattan, Kan. –

Kansas volleyball will look for its third straight Big 12 Conference victory Saturday as it travels an hour down the road to Sunflower State rival Kansas State. The No. 18 Wildcats are 13-7 overall and 7-4 in the league while the Jayhawks also sit at 13-7 but 4-7 in Big 12 play.

Kansas State Preview

The Wildcats are coming off a 3-0 loss at No. 10 Texas on Saturday. K-State is 6-2 at home this season with its only setbacks at the hands of the Longhorns and No. 4 Nebraska.

The Kansas/Kansas State Series

The Wildcats lead the all-time series against the Jayhawks 50-31. Kansas State has claimed the teams’ last 19 meetings. The last time KU defeated K-State was on Nov. 16, 1994 — almost a decade ago.

The Last Time KU & K-State Met…

Lawrence, Kan. – Despite a career-high 24 kills by Ashley Michaels, Kansas lost 3-2 to 16th-ranked Kansas State Oct. 6 at the Horejsi Family Athletics Center. The Jayhawks fell to the Wildcats in their first five-game match of the season, 30-19, 23-30, 30-25, 22-30 and 15-12.

Michaels led all players with 24 kills (on a .400 attack percentage), tying her career-high against Texas on Nov. 2, 2002, and added four block assists. Junior Josi Lima added 18 kills, nine digs and a career-best three block solos.

Jana Correa, who appeared to be back at 100 percent, posted 17 kills and added four digs. Paula Caten added 10 kills and five digs. Andi Rozum dished out a match-high 69 assists and added eight digs. Jill Dorsey led all defensive players with 24 digs while Emily Brown had 14 in the loss.

K-State was led by Vali Hejjas, who had 19 kills in 46 attempts on the night.
