Former KU Guard Greg Gurley to Join Jayhawk Television Network

LAWRENCE, Kan. – Former Kansas guard Greg Gurley will serve as analyst for the upcoming Jayhawk Television Network broadcasts for KU men’s basketball, Jayhawk Sports Marketing announced Wednesday.

Gurley replaces Paul Splittorff and will join Dave Armstrong on the Jayhawk TV broadcasts. Gurley is no stranger to the microphone. He has worked the past eight years as analyst for the 6 News Lawrence rebroadcasts of Kansas men’s basketball games. Additionally, he has also worked the last 10 years as a college basketball studio analyst for Metro Sports in Kansas City, Mo.

A native of Leawood, Kan., Gurley played at Kansas from 1992-95, appearing in 124 games. His KU teams won three Big Eight Conference regular-season titles, the 1992 league tournament title and advanced to the semifinals of the 1993 Final Four. As a player, Gurley led KU in three-point field goal percentage in 1994, making 45.1 percent (41-91) from beyond the arc. For his career he made 37.7 from beyond the arc and had a 3.3 scoring average.

Gurley is the national sales manager and owner at Collegiate Marketing Services in Overland Park, Kan. CMS manages athletic departments’ merchandising, including all game day sales, retail stores and web stores. Their clients include the Universities of Oklahoma, Nebraska and Texas.

Hawk Talk with Bill Self will start for the 2008-09 season on Monday, November 3, at 6 p.m. from the Salty Iguana in Lawrence (6th and Wakarusa). There will be 17 Hawk Talks throughout the season, concluding on March 16. Four Hawk Talks will be on Tuesdays following KU’s appearances on ESPN’s Big Monday.
