Oct. 30, 2009

LAWRENCE, Kan. –

Kansas softball’s Rock Chalk Teams tested their carving skills Wednesday in a pumpkin carving contest. Team Wheaties won the intersquad competition.

Other points given out in the competition included one point for best design, which team PHOG won. The Warhawks were awarded a point for best concept and the Crusade were given a point for having the best carving skills.

The competition took place at Arrocha Ballpark, KU softball’s home field, after individual workouts were complete.

Jayhawk softball’s Rock Chalk Teams competition is an event organized by first-year head softball coach Megan Smith and is designed to encourage competitiveness, team cohesiveness and bonding between players. The Jayhawk softball team is broken up into four teams- PHOG, Crimson Crusade, Wheaties and Warhawks- which compete against each other throughout the year for the opportunity to win challenges and earn points.
