Kansas Rowing Competes at the Head of the Iowa

Kansas rowing completed the first half of the fall rowing season at the Head of the Iowa on Sunday, October 31, 2004. The team entered boats in the Novice Four, Open Four, Open Single, Novice Eight, and Varsity Eight races.

The Open Single race was paced by Kansas rower Erin Hennessey, with a first place time of 16:57.33. Following close behind was Kris Lazar in third place with a time of 17:37.67 and Jennifer Pearson in fourth place with a time of 17:39.80. Kansas would place seven more rowers in the Singles race with places of seventh, eighth, ninth, tenth, eleventh, twelfth, and fourteenth.

Kansas’s team competition was lead by the Open Four race with three boats entering. They would place third in a time of 15:47.14, fourth in a time of 15:51.12, and seventh in a time of 16:12.28. Kansas would go on to place seventh and sixteenth in the Novice Four race with times of 17:50.69 and 19:45.92.

Finishing the team competition were the Novice Eight and Varsity Eight races. Kansas placed fourth and sixth in the Novice Eight race and sixth and eighth in the Varsity Eight race.

Kansas will next see action at the Head of the Hooch in Gainesville, Ga. on November 6-7, 2004 and will return home on November 12, 2004 to face Kansas State in the Sunflower Showdown for the conclusion of the fall season.
