No. 18 Tigers Down Jayhawks

COLUMBIA, Mo. – Missouri scored three goals in each half to hand Kansas its worst loss since the 1999 season in a 6-0 triumph over the Jayhawks Friday evening at Aubrey J. Walton Soccer Field.

The Tigers improve to 13-5 overall and 7-3 in the Big 12, while KU falls to 11-7-1 overall and 4-5-1 in the Big 12.

After controlling play for the first five minutes, Kansas surrendered a goal in the ninth minute to Alysha Bonnick, who headed in a cross from Mo Redmond at 8:49.

Missouri scored a second goal on a similar play in the 33rd minute as Michelle Collins headed in a Kat Tarr cross deep in the box. It was all downhill from there.

The Tigers scored four times over the next 21 minutes to hand KU its first loss in Columbia since the 2002 season. It was also MU’s first win over the Jayhawks in the last seven meetings.

The Jayhawks will look to regroup for the Big 12 Championship, which gets underway Wednesday. KU – the No. 7 seed – will take on second-seeded Texas A&M at 7:30 p.m., in San Antonio, Texas.
