Nov. 1, 2006
SAN ANTONIO, Texas –
Kansas sophomore Jessica Bush tallied a goal in the 36th minute to tie the score as the University of Kansas and Colorado are tied 1-1 at the end of regulation in the Quarterfinal round of the Big 12 Soccer Championships at Blossom Soccer Stadium.
CU drew first blood in the 18th minute as Nikki Keller made a long run into the far corner of the box and beat Julie Hanley to the ball for a 1-0 Buffalo lead.
The Jayhawks knotted the match in the 37th minute. Sophomore Missy Geha started the play, sending the ball up to senior Holly Gault who sent a long pass in front of Bush. The 5-foot-2 midfielder made a move around CU goalkeeper Kirstin Radlinski and finished her team-leading eighth goal of the season at 36:33.
Early in the second half, Sara Rogers nearly gave KU the lead. Freshman Shannon McCabe sent a perfect cross to the far post, however Rogers’ header attempt went just wide of the net.
Midway through the half, Geha sent a laser from 21 yards out that just missed the net to the near side.
KU holds a 16-11 advantage in shots and a 4-2 edge in corner kicks. Goalkeeper Julie Hanley has three saves.
