Jayhawks to Conclude Fall Season at Seminole Invitational

LAWRENCE, Kan. —

In its last of five fall tournaments, the University of Kansas tennis team will travel to Tallahassee, Fla., for the FSU Seminole Invitational. The event is set to run Friday through Sunday on the campus of Florida State University.

The Invitational will feature a strong field, including Florida State, Florida A&M, South Florida, Central Florida, Jacksonville University, Miami, New Mexico, Georgia Tech and Florida International.

The Jayhawks will look to build on an already strong fall, which has been highlighted by junior Yuliana Svistun’s Flight E singles championships at the Hoosier Classic and senior Elizaveta Avdeeva and junior Edina Horvath’s second-place finish in the Cissie Leary doubles tournament.

A Ufa, Russia, native, Svistun has paced KU throughout the fall, leading the team with an 8-3 record in singles play. Horvath is second on the squad with three singles victories.

An All-Big 12 doubles team selection last year, Kansas’ top doubles tandem of Avdeeva and Horvath, ranked 36th in the country, are currently 5-3 playing together, which has included matches against two ranked duos.

The Invitational, which feature three draws, is set to begin at 10 a.m., on Friday morning. Visit kuathletics.com for updated results following each day of the event.
