Missouri Swims Past Kansas, 173.5-121.5

COLUMBIA, Mo. –
No. 23 Kansas (2-2) fell to No. 21 Missouri 173.5-121.5 in a Border Showdown dual at Columbia, Mo., Saturday afternoon. The swimming and diving loss was Kansas’ second in a row, but the Jayhawks received several strong performances, particularly from Danielle Herrmann and its relay teams.
Kansas opened the dual with a victory in the 200 yard Medley Relay. A team of Iuliia Kuzhil, Herrmann, Ashley Leidigh and Emily Lanteigne defeated the Tigers by just .06 seconds in a time of 1:43.94.
Following the 200 yard Medley Relay, Missouri found success in the individual events. It won the next four events, but Herrmann was able to secure a 100 yard breaststroke victory in a time of 1:02.93. Herrmann also went on to win the 200 yard breaststroke in a time of 2:18.76 and the 200 yard IM in a time of 2:04. 41.
Maria Mayrovich also secured an individual victory in the 50 yard freestyle in a time of 23.59. Mayrovich was also key in KU’s 400 yard freestyle relay victory. Mayrovich, Lanteigne, Kuzhil and Anne Liggett combined for the win in a time of 3:28.41, over five seconds ahead of the top Tiger time.
Kansas’ next dual will be against Drury on Friday, Nov., 7 at 6 p.m at Robinson Natatorium. KU will follow that up with a dual against Evansville on Saturday, Nov., 8 at 2 p.m., also at Robinson Natatorium.
