Kansas Sophomore Berry Named Second-Team All-Big 12

Nov. 1, 2010

IRVING, Texas – Kansas’ Whitney Berry was named all-conference for the third time in her career Monday, as announced by the Big 12 offices in Irving, Texas.

Berry, who split time in the midfield and at forward, was named All-Big 12 Second-Team for the 2010 season. This is the third conference honor for the sophomore out of Wichita (Goddard HS), as she garnered second-team and All-Newcomer Team honors after her 2009 freshman campaign.

A versatile player who contributes on offense and defense, Berry made her mark on the team and in the Big 12 with her speed and dynamic play. For the second straight season, Berry led the Jayhawks in assists with three, and scored three goals to tie for the team lead with nine points. Berry also ended the season with a team-leading 65 shots (20 on goal) which was good enough for sixth in the Big 12.

After two seasons at KU, Berry now has nine goals and 12 assists, and ranks at No. 11 all-time in career assists and No. 8 all-time with 116 career shots.
