SAAC Trick or Treats So Others Can Eat

Nov. 1, 2011

LAWRENCE, Kan. – Thirty student-athletes, representing KU’s Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, took to the streets on Halloween Night for a good cause – collecting food for the needy. Some donned costumes like Minnie Mouse, a Ninja Turtle or even a giant banana, while the majority dressed simply as student-athletes.

They divided up into teams, armed with a map of designated areas of Lawrence. They had 30 minutes to gather as many canned food items as they could.

The result was 362 canned food items – a notable increase from last year’s effort, which will greatly benefit the Lawrence Community Shelter and L.I.N.K., where KU student-athletes and staff volunteer on a regular basis.
