Jayhawks to Conclude Fall Season at WMU Super Challenge

LAWRENCE, Kan. — The University of Kansas tennis team will round out its fall slate this weekend as it heads to Kalamazoo, Mich., for the Western Michigan University Super Challenge. The tournament is set to begin on Friday, Nov. 4, and run through Sunday, Nov. 6.

The Super Challenge boasts a very strong field. Along with host-school Western Michigan, Kansas will compete against opponents from Northwestern, Indiana, Purdue and DePaul.

The tournament also is well-represented in the preseason ITA rankings. Five individuals appear in the singles rankings, including Northwestern’s Alexis Prousis (No. 50), Purdue’s Hala Sufi (No. 73), Indiana’s Sarah Batty (No. 82) and Dora Vastag (No. 90), Western Michigan’s Rattiya Hirinrat (No. 109) and DePaul’s Beatrix Csordas (No. 117).

Northwestern’s tandems of Cristelle Grier and Feriel Esseghir (No. 14) and Prousis and Georgie Rose (No. 49), as well as Indiana’s team of Batty and Laura McGaffigan (No. 19) are listed in the preseason doubles rankings.

Doubles and singles action will get underway on Friday, and continue into Saturday. The completion of singles play will then take place on Sunday.
