Gault, Cauzillo named Academic All-District by ESPN the Magazine

LAWRENCE, Kan. –

University of Kansas senior forward Holly Gault and junior midfielder Nicole Cauzillo have been named Academic All-District 7 by ESPN the Magazine. Gault was named to the First Team, while Cauzillo garnered Second Team honors. <?xml:namespace prefix=”o” ns=”urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office”?>

The Academic All-District team is nominated and voted on by the College Sports Information Directors of America. To be eligible for the team, student-athletes must maintain a cumulative grade point average above 3.2 and have participated in at least 50 percent of the team’s contests.

Gault, who was named to the academic all-district second team last season, earns first team honors for the first time in her career. The senior is majoring in human biology and is pre-med is now eligible for the ESPN the Magazine Academic All-America team, which will be announced later this month.

Cauzillo, a junior English major, received recognition by the academic all-district team for the first time in her career. Earlier this week, she was named to the Academic All-Big 12 team for the second straight year.

KU (11-7-1) will find out if it has been selected for the NCAA Tournament on Monday when the NCAA announces the pairings for the tourney at 3 p.m.
