Kansas’ Win Over Washburn …
– Marks KU’s 36th-straight exhibition victory, which dates back to 1995
– Makes Kansas 36-3 all-time against Washburn, including 5-0 in exhibition games
– Improves Kansas head coach Bill Self to 22-0 all-time in exhibition play while at KU
– Makes KU 54-7 all-time in exhibition play, including 47-4 in Allen Fieldhouse (15-0 under Bill Self)
Game Notes:
– Kansas guard Mario Little made his first start since the 2008-09 season.
– Kansas scored the first 11 points with four of the five starters scoring in the first three minutes of action. Washburn’s first points came at the 15:43 mark of the first half.
– KU’s 92 points marked the sixth-straight exhibition game that the Jayhawks have scored at least 90 points. The last time KU failed to tally 90 in a preseason game came in an 84-83 win over Carleton University on a Canadian exhibition trip in 2008.
– The 30-point margin in an exhibition game was the lowest since it defeated Washburn by 19 (98-79) on Nov. 4, 2008.
– Marcus Morris’ 28 points would have been a career high, while his 11 free throws made would have also been a career high.
– Morris went 11-for-11 from the foul line, which would have tied a KU record set by Rex Walters on March 14, 1992 against Oklahoma.
– The Jayhawks went 32-of-35 from the free throw line (91.4 percent).
– Kansas forward Thomas Robinson collected three steals in the game, which would have been a career high.
– Kansas guard Travis Releford scored all five of his points from the foul line, which would have been a career best if this had been a regular season game.
– Kansas guard Royce Woolridge and guard Niko Roberts both played in their first games as Jayhawks. Woolridge scored four points in seven minutes and Roberts played two minutes.
