Svistun’s victory over Florida International’s Pazo gave the Ufa, Russia native her second-straight 10-win fall season. After finishing 14-6 last fall, the junior closed out the 2007 fall schedule with a solid mark of 10-4.

Horvath, who finished second on the team this fall with four singles victories, defeated Central Florida’s Serrot to claim the Gold bracket’s consolation crown. Horvath also had a strong fall season in doubles play competing with junior Elizaveta Avdeeva.

Freshman Maria Martinez also entered Sunday with a shot at a third-place finish in the Pink bracket. However, the Abingdon, Md., native fell to New Mexico’s Tessmar, 6-3, 6-1.

KU’s only other action on Sunday was in the Yellow round-robin singles draw, where freshman Mymee Tokuda dropped her contest to Florida International’s Vallasciani, 6-0, 6-4.

Kansas will now be off until the squad heads to Honolulu, Hawaii on Jan. 16-20 for the Hawaii Tournament. The Jayhawks will then begin dual match play at Arkansas on Feb. 2.
