Jayhawks Close Out Fall Season at Final Day of WMU Super Challenge

KALAMAZOO, Mich. — The University of Kansas tennis team put a successful end to its fall season on Sunday, finishing 6-2 in singles play on the final day of the Western Michigan University Super Challenge.

All of the Jayhawk’s action on Sunday came against DePaul. Notching wins for Kansas were freshman Ksenia Bukina, sophomore Lauren Hommell, freshman Edina Horvath, sophomore Stephanie Smith, junior Ashley Filberth and junior Brittany Brown.

With her victory on Sunday, Brown improved to 3-0 at the tournament in singles competition.

“We had an excellent day against a very good program,” head coach Amy Hall-Holt said. “This was a great way to close out the fall season.”

“Overall, I think the fall season went well,” Hall-Holt added. “Everyone improved, and if we continue to do that, good things will come for Kansas tennis.”

The Jayhawks will begin their spring season against Ball State on Jan. 22.
