Nov. 8, 2005

LAWRENCE, Kan. –

Big Jay has climbed to fourth place in the Capital One Mascot Challenge. Big Jay won his matchup with Smokey (6-3) of Tennesse last week to improve his record to 5-4. He is now in position to make one of the six playoff spots and is just two places away from clinching a first round bye. Big Jay will look to defeat Joe Bruin (5-4) of UCLA this week to inch closer to his goal of a playoff appearance.

“I am happy with my standing with two weeks to go,” said Big Jay. “I just need to stay focused these last two weeks so I can clinch a playoff spot.”

At the beginning of the week, Big Jay was trailing Joe Bruin by about 10,000 votes.
