Jayhawks Travel to the NCAA Midwest Regional Championships

Lawrence, Kan. – Fresh off a seventh-place finish at the 2010 Big 12 Championships in Stillwater, Okla., on Oct. 30, the Jayhawk men and women are looking for an improved performance at the NCAA Midwest Regional Championships in Peoria, Ill., on Saturday, Nov. 13.

The NCAA Midwest Regional Cross Country Championships will be hosted by Bradley University, and will be run on the Newman Golf Course.

The women will run a 6K, with the race set to begin at 11 a.m. The men, who are running a 10K, will follow at noon.

The KU men’s team will look for a strong performance from their junior leader, Donny Wasinger, who raced to a 13th-place finish at the 2010 Big 12 Championships with a time of 24:40.04. The team will also rely heavily upon senior Nick Caprario, who was the Jayhawks’ second-place finisher at the Big 12 meet, as he ran a career-best time of 25:17.02.

Rounding out the field for the Kansas men are junior Austin Bussing, sophomore Josh Baden, and freshmen Josh Munsch, Nikki Trooien-Smith and Jose Munoz.

The Jayhawk women will once again rely heavily upon junior Rebeka Stowe, who finished 12th overall at the 2010 Big 12 Championships with a time of 20:43.44. Sophomore Natalie Becker finished 39th overall with a time of 21:41.64, and will be counted on to help the Jayhawks on Saturday.

Senior Amanda Miller, junior Kara Windisch sophomores Allie Marquis, Tessa Turcotte and Kyra Kilwein round out the runners for the Kansas women.
