Brown Named ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District

LAWRENCE, Kan. –

Junior right side hitter/setter Emily Brown (Baldwin City, Kan.) has been named 2006 ESPN the Magazine Academic Third Team All-District for her efforts on the court and in the classroom. Brown is the second Kansas volleyball player in as many years to receive the honor as Paula Caten (2004-05) went on to earn ESPN the Magazine Academic All-America honors in 2005.

The 6-2, six-rotation player is majoring in K-12 Health/Physical Education and maintains a 3.29 grade point average at KU. Brown also ranks second on the team with 3.47 kills and 1.56 assists per game while adding 257 total digs in the Jayhawks’ defense effort.

Brown, a 2006 Preseason All-Big 12 Conference selection, was named Academic All-Big 12 First Team as a sophomore in 2005 and has started all 86 matches of her career at KU.

ESPN the Magazine Academic All-District and All-America honorees are nominated, voted on and awarded by members of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
