Nov. 10, 2011

LAWRENCE, Kan. – One of the top five centers in the country. ESPN.com tagged Kansas women’s basketball junior Carolyn Davis with that label in a new article published on its site. The honor is the most recent for Davis, who has already been named a preseason candidate for the Wooden Award and Wade Trophy for player of the year, along with earning Preseason All-Big 12 First Team honors.

Through two exhibitions games, the 6-foot-3 post is averaging a team-best 7.0 rebounds per game. She has also scored 13.0 points per game while shooting 75.0 percent from the field. Last season, Davis ranked second in the nation with a 66.0 field goal percentage.

Joining Davis on the top five center list are Baylor junior Brittany Griner, Texas A&M junior Kelsey Bone, Connecticut sophomore Stefanie Dolson and Stanford sophomore Chiney Ogwumike.
