Dear Fellow Jayhawks:

Basketball season has arrived, and by now most of you have seen the many new and exciting changes that have taken place in and around legendary Allen Fieldhouse to make your KU basketball experience even better. Thanks to the generosity of the Ward Family and the Russell Stover Foundation, Kansas Athletics was able to make the following enhancements to the look, feel and tradition of the greatest college basketball venue in America, Allen Fieldhouse:

Updated first-level Restrooms Exterior Cleaning and Repairs Interior ceiling cleaning New playing floor New lighting system Enhancement of the seating areas New sound system Installation of new windows Installation of new life safety equipment, and The Installation of a new scoreboard/video board

And, as many of you have seen, the Booth Family Hall of Athletics is progressing nicely toward its opening – likely in early January. We cannot thank the Booth Family enough for its generosity, which will enable all KU fans to celebrate the history and achievements of all KU sports.

Many of you have also experienced yet another key enhancement for the 2005-06 season – digital ticket scanning. As an added service to our ticket holders, we have begun to scan, i.e., electronically validate, game tickets at every gate. Digital ticketing is a new and exciting technology that helps protect you, the fan, and we are very happy to bring this feature to Allen Fieldhouse for the 2005-06 season.

We want to remind all of our ticket holders what to expect each time you come to a game this year. Digital ticketing involves handheld scanners used by our event staff to electronically read the barcode printed on the ticket. Many of our donors may already be familiar with this technology, since it was introduced at the Horejsi Family Center earlier this fall. This new technology will help stop the use of counterfeit tickets and protect our donors who have had their tickets lost or stolen. Additionally, we will be able to respond to problems more quickly and shorten lines by relocating ticket scanners as the crowd flow dictates.

Please keep a few things in mind when you visit Allen Fieldhouse this season:

Only bring the ticket(s) for that day ‘ s specific game. Never bring your entire season ticket package. Each person should have their ticket out and ready for the event staff to scan at the gate. Do not fold your tickets along the barcode; doing so can cause delays at the gate. Particularly early in the season, we encourage all ticket holders to come early to avoid delays at the gates as we perfect the use of this new technology. Tickets that are lost and stolen can now be more effectively and efficiently replaced; however, as in the past, there will be a charge for this service. Please contact the Ticket Office for the particulars regarding lost or stolen tickets.

We anticipate a great season for the Jayhawks, and look forward to the benefits this new and exciting technology will afford our season ticket holders. If you have specific questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact the Ticket Office at 785-864-3141 and we will be happy to answer any questions you may have.

Rock Chalk Jayhawk!
