LAWRENCE, Kan. – The University of Kansas women’s basketball team was defeated 60-58 Tuesday night by the West Coast All-Stars in Allen Fieldhouse. The Jayhawks did not help themselves in the final exhibition game, shooting just 11-of-25 from the free throw line.

“They threw a lot of defensive looks at us,” Kansas head coach Bonnie Henrickson said. “We didn’t do very well offensively against them. We have a lot to learn from tonight’s game, we will get better from what we learned tonight.”

The Jayhawks were led by junior Crystal Kemp, who put in a game-high 20 points and grabbed a game-high 14 rebounds. Junior Kaylee Brown added 13 points as the only other Jayhawk to score in double figures. Senior Aquanita Burras rounded out the offensive effort as she grabbed 13 rebounds and scored nine points.

Kansas was outscored 30-25 in the second half and shot 29 percent. West Coast put two players in double-figures with University of Rhode Island product Denise King leading the way with 20 points. Former Temple standout Tynecia Pam added 14 points and 10 rebounds.

The Jayhawks (1-1, exhibition) will tip-off the season Nov. 21 as they host the University of Texas-Arlington. Tip is scheduled for 1 p.m.
